How is it possible for someone to make a new backplate?  That's just not an option.

Thanks for the suggestion.  While I'm not from Australia, I found one of the thick evo3 cases available on Amazon.  Ended up paying more for the case than I've previously paid for a 30GB iPod, and it's going to take a month to arrive. The only color they had available was hot pink.

Update: This arrived and within ten seconds of opening the package, the hard plastic screen protector sliced two of my fingers open. The edges are razor sharp! The case seems pretty nice. However, the hold switch is completely covered which makes it difficult to operate - moreso because I'm using the hold switch and headphone jack from a 30GB in the 80GB case, which results in it already being slightly more recessed. I can still operate it by digging my fingernail into it, but I'm willing to bet that's going to tear up the silicone over the switch eventually.

You don't have to make one. The Ipod classic 6th generation 160gb came with a double plate hdd, hence it needed more room to accommodate it.

This is what I got, a bigger battery with a bigger plate and jacks. Not affiliated with the seller.

Look for a thick backplate on ebay. There a lot of sellers with them.

That still doesn't fit the Tarkans bundle with the big Chinese battery.

Hi All,

Has anyone purged all their album art in an effort to move past the 60,000ish track limit of the ipod video with a 64mb board using apple's firmware? If so, how many tracks did that allow you to add?

Also, I've got an 80GB Ipod 5.5 that won't charge or connect to a computer. I'm guessing this isn't an easy fix but hoping it is. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Wont charge or connect, sounds like the 30-pin dock or the logic board.

Agreed, could also be that the battery connector connection is damaged.

Hey all, just wanted to say thanks for all the info in this thread! After a few stressful attempts and broken battery connectors, I've finally got my 128GB mSATA frankenpod up and running.

- 6th Gen silver faceplate and mid-frame, with a black wheel.

- 5th Gen logic board

- 2000mah battery

- new fat back from ebay

- Tarkan mSATA adapter + 128gb Samsung mSATA

Does anybody know if there's a patch/version of rockbox with a setting for 2000mah? The current one is only goes up to 1400mah. Not that I'm going to be keeping too much of an eye on it, just curious.

I agree, the hold switch cover is annoying. I suggest adding a screen protector for the think plastic screen protector. Over time it'll pick up scratches, and you won't be able to read the screen properly.

It probably looks like an iPod Classic. :)

Thanks for the reply.

Are any of those easy fixes or should I part out that ipod? I should mention that I don't solder.
