Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

Couple of questions if you guys don't mind me asking:
I have more than 100,000 tracks that I can encode which will occupy around 900GB.
- What is the limit for the number of tracks in a Rockbox database?

I've got a 480GB Crucial M500 5.5G iPod which has around 20,000 tracks. It works fine with Rockbox, but performance is seriously degraded with stock firmware. Do you think if I used a 7.5G logic board the performance will be acceptable with stock firmware?

Thanks

Such a shame!
Just bought the 2000mAh battery coming with the plug and play thick back case...

As audiophalus did, I thought that if it worked with SSD for some of you crazy people it WILL fit with the SDXC adapter!...

Got a Classic 120Gb, with Tarkan iFlash (v9) and Tarkan's CF to SDXC.
No way to plug in this battery?
What about audiophalus said? :
I don't understand if we can actually remove the Tarkan's CF adapter housing. Nevertheless, it is obvious that the adapter is way bigger than IFlash is.

I talked to the 2000mAh battery supplier, below his answer:

It can be installed in this iPod which with tarkan adapter and thick back cover. But the tarkan adapter will become hot after sync, this will damage the battery after long time used. I'm testing this and looking for a better battery.

I tried to put a Classic front plate and mid plate on my 5.5G 30GB but when I did the front plate and the mid plate screw holes wouldn't match up due to the thickness of the MB.

When I did this same mod with my 5.5 gen 80GB → 256GB SD, I found that the holes didn't line up perfectly but a little squeeze was enough to thread the screws and get them in without stripping them.  I figured it was more due to cheap Chinese manufacturing of the faceplate and mid frame than anything else.  I've seen the same type of misalignment with the plastic replacement fronts for 5th gen ipods as well, I've bought a few from a variety of sources including iFixit and none of the aftermarket fronts match the quality of OEM parts but the classic faceplate looks identical.  The 5th gen LCD is a little thicker than the 6th/7th version also but when screwed together and closed up it functions perfectly (minus the aluminum backplate as someone else mentioned).  I'm a pretty heavy ipod user and this is my daily beater that's carried around in my pocket and glove box at all times, I've had zero issues since syncing my library to the SD card about 3 months ago and putting the classic faceplate on about 2 months ago.

The USB handler in Rockbox is basically broken.  You will need to find a way to get regular IOS working if only for file transfers.

My unit spends most of its time in Rockbox but I drop to IOS for file transfers.

thanks, anyone know of a way to run stock ios on 7g ipod with msata?or a workaround to this problem?

cmarti somewhere answered
Try loading the files from the official Apple firmware instead of RockBox, RockBox USB handler is inefficient.
Edit. Nevermind, yours is a 7th gen iPod.

So sounds like ios doesent work with 7g and msata

But I came across this from tarkan 7g 1tb and stock ios??any ideas
