Just downloaded and tried. Still the same, only 137GB.

OK, did you install the latest version of BIOS for your laptop?

137GB limit should be related to LBA and sometimes that could be taken care of after updating BIOS

Other than that, maybe your CF-to-USB or CF-to-SATA adapter etc. could have something to do with the LBA stuff? I found something on WD's site FYI

Not sure if it has anything to do with the card reader (USB). It's a very old card reader.

I am going to try it on many PC's in the office tomorrow to see if that will have this issue resolved, until them I am not going to try it on any ipod.

Thanks seeteeyou for your help.

I guess that we probably nailed it, the card reader itself must be able to support at least CF version 5.0

http://www.lexar.com/support/cf-professional-faqs
Quote:
CF 6 is a CompactFlash® memory card specification. This new CF memory card specification allows capacities up to 144PB and measurable speeds up to 167MB/sec. This can be compared to the previous CF 4.1 specification, which only allowed capacities up to 137GB and measurable speeds up to 133MB/sec.

Most likely we should have better luck with this one for $35

Hope the PC in my office will get this resolved.

I guess I have to work on the ipod in the office tomorrow. :)

seeteeyou, man you are quick finding all the info.

Hello!
Like I've said, I got this komputerbay 32Gb 266x and I've already set it in my iPod Video 5.5. Everything works fine :D I'm very happy. The shame it's only the money that I've spent in useless pieces (a MicroSD - CF adaptor and one microsd 64gb...)
Thanks everyone ;)

I'm working with a CF adapter and a 128GB SD card in my iMod and it's working pretty good. Every once in a while it'll freeze and a hard reset won't work. I either have to let the battery drain or pull the thing apart and pull out the battery. However it freezes, it's putting out some heat so it's draining the battery quickly. Within a few hours. And I have a 850mAh battery or a 950mAh battery. I took the largest battery I could find.

That's one reason I'm eager to see DMinors results. If it works, I'll definitely go with a 256GB CF card. Probably more reliable and hopefully more energy efficient. Not that I have battery life issues to begin with tongue.gif

No luck with the 256GB CF on my office PC. I think the card reader on my office PC is unable to read the 256GB CF cards.

According to this review on the KomputerBay 256GB CF, "The new 256gig cards is currently compatible with very few USB 3.0 CF card readers, Lexar and Transcend are 2 of those. Non-compatible readers will only show the cards as 132 gig in capacity."

So I guess I have to try to get a new card reader. :(

Already ordered the new Lexar USB 3.0 CF reader from Amazon. Hope that will get this issue sorted out.

£499 is insane.

I am going to Best Buy shortly after work looking for that card reader. I want to see a 256GB CF DMod Ultimate Edition today. :)

BTW, the DMod has delivered more than what I could expect or even believe. It's still like a dream to me except a dream comes true.

Hey D, why not installing the CF in your iPod and then firing the iPod in disk mode? That's how I installed the 256 mSATA and the 128GB CF in my iPod mini.
