Mini speakers

Hello

I'm looking for really small speakers to use instead of phone/netbook speakers, at times when I can't have anything bigger/better with me.

i.e. something this kind of size:

I will only use them for showing people mp3s or Youtube. I just want something that will be an improvement on phone speakers.

Can anyone recommend something?

Check the SoundScience QSB maybe. They are a little bigger but they only get good reviews. And it's a stereo System.

Those do sound good.

They are quite pricey for their niche though, you can get good headphones for that price. I'm not sure about those.

Except the FoxL v2 (with Bluetooth).

Of course, the size does limit the amount of sound, as well as the power such small built-in batteries can provide!

If you go up in size, and weight!, runs on mains power, you get better sound.

But for really portable, battery powered, you have to pay for the convenience!

Okay, I understand.

Really good sound quality is expensive at that size.

You might check the Nokia MD-11, only problem is that it runs on battery so you would need to buy rechargeable one. But apparently the sound quality is nice and you can use it alone or with another one for stereo.

i just saw a commercial for this little portable speaker that was 20 dollars. It runs on a battery and takes 3.5 input. And you could stretch it to make the speaker taller increasing the volume of the enclosure and giving it more bass.

also look on the head-fi tv videos   the asian dood reviewed a cool little speaker too.

The X-Minis are good. I've had both the v1 and the v2 (single speaker config--there is a double speaker config for stereo, but it's not worth it imo)--they usually get loud enough without distorting for the purposes you're talking about. And it's 13 pounds from Play.com, which means free delivery right? What's holding you back already?

Jude's review of the WOWeeOne He seems to really like ti with his ipad.    http://www.woweeone.com/index.php

Description:

The WOWee ONE CLASSIC is a compact portable speaker unit which provides a full range frequency response. It is intended for use as both a fixed and portable solution for all iPod, iPad, mp3, mp4, mobile phone and computer applications.

The WOWee ONE CLASSIC uses a hybrid technology of a standard speaker that delivers the mid to high frequencies, and a Gel Audio™ driver that delivers low end bass frequencies. The extended low frequency response of the Gel Audio™ speaker out-performs any similar size device by producing bass frequencies around 3 octaves below the low end cut-off of a traditional unit.

The unit is powered by an internal rechargeable battery and can deliver up to 20 hours of playtime per charge. It can be recharged via computer USB or a 5V USB power adapter using a plug. A built-in audio limiter allows the WOWee ONE CLASSIC to handle a wide dynamic range of signal inputs.
