Anyone use your cans for movies?
Gear mentioned in this thread:
Heya,
Yeap, when I have guests, or if it's early in the day, I use my home theater. Especially for action movies. But for quiet films, or films with a lot of interesting detail, I use headphones. I recently started using my SRH940's for movies instead of my DT990's and the detail difference is crazy. I find that mids/detail make a movie a much more interesting experience. Of course, sound stage and separation of channel from a 5.1 stream isn't there, so you're not enjoying positioning as much (at least to me). But in movies where that's not a critical element of enjoyment, the detail is just so great. I work nights, so I'm up at weird hours, so naturally got more into headphones for movies anyways.
Watch a zombie film, if you like that sort of thing, with some detailed headphones. They put some crazy stuff in there!

There's a lot of crazy little sound effects / cues I usually don't pick up on unless I'm using headphones. I definitely know what you're talking about.
Heya,
Creepy movies are way more creepy with an intimate headphone that does detail. I mean, you take them off just to make sure it was actually just in the movie and there's not someone up in your house or something hah.

for headphones it's either my AKG 240 sextetts lp or AKG 240DF's. they both have amazing detail accuracy when it comes to monitoring detail.

lol i hate that. i remember watching the Exorcise Dominion and i swore i heard the fan and the bed in my room.it felt like i was there. it was pretty crazy when your mind plays tricks on you.
It's killer audio!
Very best,
I usually watch movies on my TV with its built in speakers, which obviously aren't the best. After reading what others are saying I've got to try headphones next time around.

If you don't hear back from me I might have scared myself to death
Heya,
Currently watching The Horde with my SRH940's on my home theater (onyko) receiver. Detail is down right creepy and surprisingly, I'm getting a lot more bass output from these headphones than my desktop amp setup up stairs. It's led me to wonder just how much these headphones are hiding from me. They have incredible extension, but I wasn't getting this kind of bass output on my desktop setup, but on my receiver, I'm getting bass that is actually controlled, tight, and very low and present in a very good way. If I can mimic this on my desktop setup, I'll have no reason for any other headphone honestly. So now, because of watching a movie with headphones, I've discovered a new quest. I wonder if it's the voltage output. Maybe these headphones are deceptively hungry for power and my LDMKIII simply doesn't feed enough due to the headphone's low impedance. Anyone with experience with this sort of thing, have any thoughts?

Watch tons of movies/games at night when it's nice and quiet so yah a nice pair of headphones really kick in.

i'm a ghost/paranormal/horror nut and love watching movies in the dark. it can be very immersive and amazing to hear and see. in the dark especially since everything but the screen is noticeable and that's all you see and hear. i'm not much a movie buff but i do love a good horror movie every now and then. i also enjoy watching a lot of psychological/mystery/fantasy and abstract anime(i really like shows that make me think and i very much enjoy lot of the artwork done).

I also love a good horror movie, and I'm terrible when it comes to loud noises (I jump like a girl). Doesn't have to be a horror movie, just anything IRL, like my phone message tone going off when it's quiet etc. Headphones are awesome for movies, but my god it's so much worse when those loud sounds in horror movies creep up on you when you have them on lol. I think I spent more time off my seat than on it wearing my LCD-2s and watching Paranormal 2 lol.

yea, that's probably most annoying part about lot of horror films is the insanely loud noises. they seriously do not know how to even out the loudness on lot of movies. the music or sound effects is always much louder and kills my ears than the volume range of the vocals. they need to get some better sound engineers to do some of these films. i hate it with tv commercials as well.
