My Liften story...

Just yesterday, a normal day, a beautiful one to say the least was changed. It started off as any other Tuesday, at 6:00pm i went to clean a building with my dad. 8:30 rolls around and with my permit, i drove my dads 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I was a little heavy footed, so i was pretty touch-and-go since i needed a little performance boost. My brother working till closing at LC pizza (figure it outbiggrin.gif), i waited to go to the gym. 11:30 comes around the corner and we finally leave to go work out, it was abdominal day FYI. I was being a little lazy (with 17 pounds lost in 1.5 months) so i was being casual while riding the bike and reading a magazine.

It rolls around to 1:00am and my brother was on the bike for 5-10 minutes and he was a little tired from working, etc, but he was determined to get his hour in, as i did. His friends said they were going to go on a bike ride, so i came out of the bathroom from talking to a guy about trading some gear for his, and i agreed id also go on a bike ride. Everything was going all short and smooth, til i went through a parking lot and i was going though one of the parking intersections and i think the cement barrier hit my left pedal and somehow took out the tube in the back tire.

I was 4 miles from my house, on my dads cruising bike, so we all literally gathered around for 10 minutes just talking about what were suppose to do now. Finally after just huddling around for enough time, one of the guys were sick of standing around, so we went to the gas station which was just 2-3 building's away from where we were. When we got their, we were going to put air in it for $.25, but i had no money, so a guy offered to break a $1. Than my brothers friend came up to the only guy pumping gas, and offered if he could take me home.

I was kinda dumbfounded as no one was coming with me, and my phone was dead! He told me to through my bike in the back and get it. It was a nice red 2011 Dodge Ram Limited with gray leather seats, and a touch screen radio. We left the gas station and started talking, he asked me it i had seen the Lion's game (i lied) and i said i had watched it at the gym (im not a big baseball guy). He that said he had season tickets last year, and he goes for hotdogs and beer and i said if he took his kids and he stated he hadn't taken his daughters yet to the two games he saw this season. I finally got home at about 2:30am and my brother (must of been peddling hard) came home about 20 minutes later pissed because no one in out house answered their phones. Long story short, thank gosh the guy was nicecool.gif

Now it looks much less daunting to read!

So you have to pay for air for your tires in the US? Free over here.

Glad to hear the guy you got a lift from wasn't an axe-murder and you got home safely! :D

I was once in the middle of the middle of nowhere by myself. Then all of a sudden I got really ill (with Typhoid I believe). Hitchhiked with some guy and his nephew (nowhere near public transport, it was a totally deserted area and the only car I saw).

Guy drives at 100 mph for hours... hopefully to where I wanted to go. All they while they're speaking some language I dont understand. Later I started to feel much better and the guy tells me he wants to go near Thailand to get something to eat??

Everyone at the customs check points and in town seem to know the guy. In the end everything turned out better than expected and I am still alive!

EDIT: 2200 posts - yeh!

It's free at certain stations here, but usually it will cost you some stupid change amount no one ever has.  You have no idea how many times this has caused me trouble.

Maybe he was just scouting it out and will come back with an axe later.  eek.gif

Good to hear someone helped you out and made it home alright.
