What you are about to read about hasn't been put up on their website yet so if you want it you will have to email Craig (csanborn@whiplashaudio.com).

Let me say before I get started it has been nothing but a pleasure talking to Craig and Mike from Whiplash Audio. They are very professional and are not out to gouge you like so many of the other hi-fi companies I have seen on the internet. They answered all my questions promptly and didn't get frustrated with all the questions I asked.

Mike over at Whiplash audio has created a CF (Compact Flash) WhipMOD. I don't know all the sizes but I got the largest they have right now which is 64GB. The difference between their normal WhipMOD and this new CF WhipMOD is “The compact flash (cf) model has better detail since there is no moving parts. The moving parts creates a harmonics which adds noise with standard disk drives. Since there is no disk drive, the compact flash sends the signal with silky smooth details…..A very very nice sound especially matched with the reference LOD”.

Battery life is 10 or more hours while playing lossless files.

For the size it’s comes in a 5.5g 120GB iPod Video.

Mike told me the read and write speeds I forgot them but I do he said its faster transferring files to it than with the standard HDD.

I don't know the exact price be because I haggled with Craig out of the gate. I purchased the CF WhipMOD, there $350 Reference LOD, and asked them to cut my He-6 cable to 4' and re-terminate with a SR-71B male connector, and then at the end of the left over 2 feet of cable put on a female SR-71B connector so that I would still have the capability of using the 4 pin XLR for my NFB-10ES. They only charged me $750 and re-terminated the cables for free! To be completely honest if they told me it was $900 I still would have bought it and thought it was an awesome deal.

I won’t name names but another company wanted to charge $350 just for re-termination and wouldn't even consider giving me a discount even though I was going to buy a DAP, LOD, AND modified Headphones. Needless to say they got no business from me.

I should add I gave them a timeline (so that i could use it on my vacation) and it wasn't very long. I received it today 2 days prior then when I asked it get here by. These guys are awesome.

From listening to the songs they preloaded my initial impressions are that it sounds amazing paired with the SR-71B. I will do a more detailed impression when I'm back from vacation.

That concludes my fapping over Whiplash Audio. If you buy something from them I hope you have as good luck with them as I did. Feel free to PM me with any questions about the products I bought.
