Do not have dedicated amp...but have old AV Receiver...will it be better than my comp?

So I currently own a pair of Ultrasone HFi-580s, but might shell out and get a new pair of headphones or an amplifier.  I don't have a dedicated amp right now.  When I was digging through my neighbors junk the other day, I found a JVC RX517 and was wondering if I can use that as a dedicated amp to drive my headphones...or whether my desktop is good enough/better.

If the JVC is good enough, I can get a new pair of phonesl; if not, I plan to get an amplifier now...and a new pair of phones in the future.  Thanks!

Apologies if I said anything dumb--I'm new to good, high-quality audio...and lovin' it.  Thanks!

Both are free, unsure which to take. Thanks in advance!

Try the receiver and see if it's free. Some are better than others, hit and miss. Only one way to find out.
