Why do my friend's HD600s sound much better than my HD650s (to me)? - Page 5

Thanks for the updates. It's really informative and helpful to see the decision processes and comparisons that are made.

Congratulations on the HD600. I think a lot of people have said that their strength is that they don't do anything wrong, while still being strong in most areas. Some day I'm going to have to get in some extensive listening of the HD600 and HD650 together; the difference of opinions on these two is fascinating.

I agree that the HD600 is an excellently balanced and "natural" sounding headphone. I've owned one for 5 years now, and its excellent tone and chameleon-like ability to sound musical with any genre, on any equipment, has made it the most permanent fixture in my rig.

...until the LCD-2 came along. For me, the rev1 provided an even more realistic and tonally rich midrange than the HD600, while providing considerably greater slam, bass extension, and overall increased dynamics with fast music. That being said, treble extension isn't very important to me. I appreciate a bit of shimmer and openness to the treble, but they're definitely not my foremost priorities.

So now, my beloved HD600 are up for sale :(

But I pick up my new LCD-2 tonight :)

How are you enjoying your LCD-2's?

I see the LCD-3 is coming out - ready to sell your 2's ?

I wonder what the OP ended up with?
