sennheiser hd595 mic modification - gaming - Page 2

They don't make a longer one as far as I'm aware.

As for hearing your own voice- I can't hear mine, and I use the Labtec mic too. I can only hear myself talking if I basically put the mic in my mouth.

You are meant to hear small amount of your own voice played back through your headphones. This is meant to keep you from yelling while playing.

I think I know what I'm doing now, so I am going to get the parts I need.

The chat lead needs to be custom made, there is a thread on AVS forum about it but my OpenDNS is blocking it.

There is a pic here about the same lead.

See reply from Acid to make a new chat lead

It shouldn't be that hard to just splice an extra foot of cable (or whatever you need) into the chat lead. Then just cover it in a layer of shrink wrap tubing and you're good to go.

Yup, I've just edited the above post with info I found on the Astro gaming website. I just need to find out what that cable is used by Phantom cables is to make a new 2.5 mm male to male chat lead.

I'm curious as to why people are using microphone braided cable when doing there modifications, is there a reason for this?

It looks nicer and is more damage resistant? That would be my assumption.
