Hi folks,

 

Have you run the Citypulse (either the 7.2 or 2.03) and upgraded? if so what did you upgrade to or "feel" you upgraded to?

Thought I'd ask for opinions about DAC/preamp/headamp combo's

 

I currently use a Citypulse DA2.03e, alternately powering K701's, Grado SR80's, Sansui SS-35's or whatever cans I get my hands on.

I listen to speakers a lot too, solid state or tube amplification, depending on the speakers I'm listening to, heat in the room or mood.

 

I like all the inputs and the remote on the Citypulse as I use it as a preamp and I'd like to take it to the next level.

 I'd like to focus on one DAC/preamp/headamp rather than having a DAC, preamp, headphone amp, tube buffer, de-jitter box etc

 

I'm imagining something like a Citypulse with an external power supply, boutique caps, tube output or ?

 

 

I'm currently digging through diy pages, pages from Hong Kong and such.

 

Oh yeah, budget is $1000, perhaps $1500 for a long term piece of equipment new or used.
