I can't find the exact model you mentioned, but I'm guessing it is a USB DAC, in that case, it would need to be connected to an amp (If its a dac/amp combo, you have to set it to a standalone amp for the hiface to be used)

Is it the one ?

Yeah, I'm guessing that you are supposed connect them to an amp because DACs don't have the power for headphones (or anything)

I 've tried this El-Cheapo but me-not-like-it. They ( I bought 2 of them) ended up in my closet.

It will tame the harsh digital sound from the jack-out of the laptop but it also makes the sound softer and less punchy with hard rock.

With this you can either use the optical adapter ( provided) to connect to your receiver optical input or you can hook your headphone directly to it without using the optical adapter. It's just not good enough for me.

The other end is using coaxial cable to connect to your coaxial digital input of your receiver.  This has raved reviews from Moon Audio and Audiogon. YMMV.
