East Africa Appeal

I hope you guys won't mind me posting this, and I will keep it brief. Most of us have a penchant for all things audiophile, and often this hobby of ours costs us hundreds, sometimes even thousands of pounds.

Just to grab a minute of your time to ask that those of us who can, please donate for the East Africa appeal. This drought is killing thousands each and every day, mainly women and children. Nearly 700,000 children are starving because of it today.

I think if each of us could just donate a tiny bit, we could make a massive difference and hopefully clear our conscience that little bit more. This is not a thread to debate the ethics of donating to such appeals or whether you agree with it or not, or me trying to lecture you in ethics or anything like that. Just reaching out to those who can or might be able to offer any sort of relief or donation for the appeal.

With all that we have been granted, I think it would be a real shame if those of us more fortunate could not reach out with just the smallest of a helping hand.

Thank god there is people like you aboard. Nothing will ever be different if we don't care, give or try change ourselves. Have not donated myself but I will today. Thanks for bringing it under attention.

Thank you for your kind words :)

Lets keep this thread afloat so we can hopefully grab as many helpful souls along the way as possible!

Thank you, Naim, for the reminder.   I have just donated to World Vision as a result.  I have found this agency to be one that uses the vast amount of what we give as donations.

Another option for this very generous community to consider: http://www.worldvision.org/content.nsf/about/20110713-Africa-drought

By the way, in the process of donating to World Vision for Hunger in East Africa, the US Government is donating $5.00 for every dollar donated.   This is a great opportunity for us all: $10 donation = $60 total.

Thank you for this reminder.

I wish I could donate. If only they had some sort of big collection centre here in Singapore.

This is a very good thread, I'll bump it once a day to keep it alive.

Fantastic opportunity here. Also, big thanks to Koolkat for his pledge to keep the appeal alive :)

The situation is getting worse by the day.  Please find any loose change knocking around in your pockets and those jars or piggy banks and see what you can afford to give.  Mothers have been walking from Somalia to Kenyan camps for months; some have lost their own children on the way and just leave them by the wayside because they have no strength to bury the children; babies are starving to death.

Please help if and when you can.  Good links in this thread for donations.
