iBasso D4 Mamba or Fiio E7?

Would the iBasso D4 Mamba be a worthwhile upgrade from a FiiO E7?

Well I traded for one anyway and I might post a few sentences comparing the two, if I can remember the E7's sound to compare it.

even if you don't find the D4 a noticeable improvement over the FiiO, you can always purchase the topkit opamps, and roll those to achieve a different (better) sound.  FYI

I just remembered I posted this when I ran across it while cleaning out my subscriptions. Well, the iBasso D4 Mamba is a lot better than the E7 with the Senn HD650s. The E7 sounded like everything was directly to my left or right and far away at that. You could kinda hear details if you looked for them though. The volumes weren't very good either. The 650s are kinda high ohm, but still.

 

The iBasso D4 Mamba drives them past safe listening volumes for both my ears and the headphones. The details are there. Totally worth the $140 I paid for it ($70USD and $70 FiiO E7), and maybe* the $220 MSRP.
