LOL... Airflow no, but cooling yes. Which is the whole point of good airflow in a closed case... and she apprently doesn't have any blowholes or anything, although if she isn't OCing or anything, I guess it would be good to put the cover back on so no accidents happen.

great so now I'm a geek

oh and now the lazier ones just refer to it as /.

LOL, yes we all need to get out more. I mean when a person owns a V700 and Sony W.ears and Sony Streetstyles and doesn't receive a single negative comment from any Headfiers...something's up.

But you're definitely learning Tracy...got some KSC-35s and MX500s now I see. Your MD recorders kick ass too! Take good care of that Sharp 831 especially.

That computer looks like a DIY one...did you build it?

Damn you just usually don't see chicks digging electronics, much less audio electronics (or at least I don't)! Expect to be very popular here Tracy.

lol, there is something about KR...'s sense of humour that i find very dry, and very funny

I must say that the thread title is misleading lol... oh well, this'll go down in head-fi history as quickest thread to 150 views... WTG on that one Trace

My one is DIY, is that a rarity?!? I just don't like the junk that most outlets put inside there PC's - I would rather know that what i put inside mine is of high quality

Definitely not rare, but the vast majority of consumers just shoot for Compaqs, and consider Dells and Gateways to be "good"...but the top dawgs all know the only good computer is a DIY one. Can't beat 100% industry standard hardware you can find reviews on and slap together to form a absolute top quality PC with absolutely no B.S....unlike the proprietary integrated crap that PC makers like to slap into their PCs nowdays.

Now the ones made by Alienware, and other gamer oriented PC makers are pretty nice...but for what they charge, you could probably hop up one level of CPU or some other integral component to performance if you DIY.

Ever since I learned how to (which in reality is *so* easy, the hardest part I'd say is researching parts for compatibility more than anything), I've been on a strict DIY route for my computers. I've built/upgraded about 4-5 computers for myself over the past 2-3 years, and they totally smoke all my friend's computers, and costs less than theirs too.

You beat me too it...
Most people will getter better temperatures with the cover off, no matter how many blow holes and fans they have..

My PC is a DIY, too! I have NEVER bought a "pre-configured", "pre-assembled" PC!! (Though I'm still running a 700MHz PIII with a 440BX chipset mobo.)

you have the same tower case as me. Except i have both sides off mine.

I have a 2 1/2 year old Alienware, and it's been worth every penny. I'm not sure what they do to their computers, maybe they test the hardware that they put in to be compatible with each other or something, but I've had NO problems. Oh ya, and overclocking was covered under my warranty My friends have all had a couple problems with their computers, some major, some minor, but that just hasn't happened with mine.

All that said, I can't afford another Alienware I'm ordering the parts for a new one very soon (maybe today...w00t!). However, if you do have the money, and don't really wanna build your own, buy Alienware (or Falcon Northwest, I imagine they're just as good)! It beats the pants off Dell, Gateway, and any of that crap you find in stores

Lynn - did you take those photos in a hurry? Because they are out of focus (blurry/fuzzy). Also, what the heck is that I-JAM thing(looks like it says MP3 Player)? I've never seen such a thing.

I have six blowholes in my case (all filtered with grilles on them). So it's practically leaving the thing off.

Um, what's wrong with a lot of views? Nothing wrong with a popular thread.

Actually, with the overly inflated prices at places like Alienware, for the same money you can build something several steps above what they are offering. Better CPU, video card, and multiple hard disks. Hell, you could probably go dual for less then what they charge .
