just bought a pair of grado hf-2

can anyone suggest a good portable amp to match with these cans that im so excited for.

i was thinking of a headsix

fiio e7 or e11

or maybe something a bit more expensive like the alo rx or a rsa tomahawk or p51.

listen mostly to extreme metal and death metal with some classic rock.

Have you considered a desktop amp? I much prefer them to portables.

What is your budget?

I think little dot stuff will work fine with grados. (not portable)

Yup, Little Dot Tube amps do help grados shine and sound good. Also with a little light tweaking of tubes and opamps, it could really match your music preferences.

When talking about low- to mid-priced amps, I recommend a SS amp with HF-2s -- the only Grado can that I think is better with SS than tubes. A used non-Caliente KICAS might be just the thing.

a dynalo/gilmore lite

For portables, I've used an iBasso D10 and an RSA Green Hornet.  Even though the D10 is much more versatile w/ my Macbook, the RSA is hands down much better.

My best match (in my home) w/ the HF2 is the Bottlehead S.E.X.
