Any DACs under $150 worth messing with?

I know people here are usually very well informed and are not timid to offer their opinions on matters such as this.  I know even $150 isn't much for a decent outboard Dac, and $350 and up will of course buy much better output.  However, I may need to go even below this level of $150 I'd budgeted for an HRT Music Streamer II, but is it worth the effort & even reduced money?

My main audio source will be a 2009 MacBook Pro which can output audio either analog or digital from its 3.5mm headphone port or even USB.  The HRT accepts USB but I know below it will likely put me into a S/PDIF optical type input Dac, which I am able to use if needed.

But even $75 to $100 if it won't provide any noticeable improvement in output quality is a waste that I need to avoid if I can.

If I can't do an HRT at least right now, am I just as well off just going from the 3.5mm audio jack on the MacBook Pro to my integrated amp/speakers?

Tks,
Randy

You can try the Behringer UCA202. If it doesn't do anything for you, you're only out $30.
