Amy Winehouse ~ Back To Black bass distortion?

Thread Starter

Listening to Back To Black on Spotify both through Cambridge Audio S30 speakers and Sennheiser HD600 headphones. It seems to me there is quite a bit of bass distortion and clipping as a result

Without the CD at hand, any owners able to confirm this suspicion? Somewhat distracting. Who mastered this album? Ugh!

its very well known that this album contains distortion.. many threads on head-fi and elswhere discussing it...

maybe someday a alternatively mastered version will surface like what came up recently with Red Hot Chili Peper's Californication...

I think it's her voice that's distorting/clipping, more than the bass.

Yep, it's a poor disc. The distortion bothers me, too. Shame because it could be so much better.

It's not enough that drugs would kill her career, the loudness war goes and ruins it?SUBMIT

It's a bit troubling considering that she used the Daptone studio and backup band, which puts out some great sounding albums.
