Gaming mouse -Fi

What kind of gaming mice do you guys use?

I use a Razer Lachesis that I managed to salvage from the dead due to my tinkeritis. It is the third one I have owned though as the previous 2 just died but it was under warranty....

I have tried the Logitech g9x and the g500 and they are good - the g9 is kinda too small and the g500 is kinda too big...

I am kinda wanting to try the Cyborg RAT7 though as it seems like everything is just fully tweakable to satisfy my urge to feel like I'm making useful adjustments smily_headphones1.gif

What kind of gaming do you plan on using it for? I got the Razer Naga back when I was in the midst of lots of MMO gaming, but I still enjoy the mouse even after the MMO playing has essentially stopped. May not be for everyone, but I've grown quite accustomed to the size of it.

I love my G9x. Having tried a few different mice, this was absolutely the most comfortable for me, especially with the wide grip. The other features (clicking/rolling scroll wheel, weights, easy sensitivity changing, customizable LED color) are nice as well.

If you're buying in store, they probably have some demos set up for you to try.

Also, I think there is a thread in the gear-fi forum about mice, might considering looking there too.

Recommending mice is difficult unless you know what you're looking for...

It's really about the shape (and avoiding perhaps some major annoyances with some sensors). I don't have particularly small hands yet I prefer very small and light mice, even MX518 is slightly too long and heavy for my taste despite I'm using it right now and been doing so for a while but when I held a small mice (think SteelSeries XAI, MS IE 1.1, Zowie EC2 etc) in my hand it felt a lot better. :p

Like what's your preferences regarding

Size? Shape? Weight? Do you need lots of functionalities/buttons? Claw or palm-grip? Low or high sens gamer? Unfortunately only knowing such details one can give a good recommendation...

Well... I fixed my mouse biggrin.gif
I have a mild case of tinkeritis so I popped open the Lachesis and it just turns out something shifted cause when I put it back together, everything works now!

So... instead... we can turn this into a thread about gaming mouse -fi tongue.gif

There's already a Mouse-Fi redface.gif

I used a DeathAdder until the middle button stopped working half the time. Now I use a MX518. I don't like the shape as much (tried them in the store when I bought the DeathAdder) but it feels like a more solid product. And it was $20 cheaper. I don't game competitively, so stuff like weights, dozens of buttons, and 5 billion DPI are gimmicks to me. Give me something cheap, solid, and doesn't cramp my hand.

I just use a MX518 now, I seem to have terrible luck with gaming mice durability.

I've had one of the earlier Razer models, one from Steelseries and Cooler Master, but they all started malfunctioning within weeks.

Not that I throw them around, I'm actually very careful with my stuff, but I just can't seem to find a "gaming" mouse that lasts.

I've actually sent back the Cooler Master mouse, and I must say their after sales service is terrible.

Took nearly a week just to get a reply to my email, several more days to work out an RMA, and it's been over 2 weeks since I sent the mouse back, without a word.

Still waiting for an reply I sent a few days ago about this, but I'll certainly never purchase from them again no matter how this ends.

Deathadder user here. I love the feel of it in my hand. I hate the shiny plastic. Looking to upgrade next to a Steelseries Ikari or Mionix Naos for the beautiful ergonomics.

Razer Abyssus. Love the look. Love the buttons. Love the scroll wheel.

Love the simplicity. Love the durability. Could improve on the comfort (prefer MX518s to Abyssus' shape and size).

I used the MX510 and loved it until it died on me. To replace it I got the Gigabyte M8000X after extensive research. Apparently the Philips TwinEye sensor Razer mice use is inferior to other sensors used in less well-marketed mice.

I don't really find it that much better than the MX510 as far as tracking goes. For one it's really bitchy about mousepads. Lasers are just too accurate and it picks up every tiny indiscrepency in the surface, causing it to act weirdly. Still though, the scroll wheel is great as is the DPI adjustment and the funky colour changing LED logo. I also find the shape to be pretty much perfect for me.

Obviously 6000dpi is ridiculous and I never have that high. I usually play at 1200dpi. There is a common misconception that higher DPI equals higher accuracy, which is quite wrong. In fact the opposite is true. Most competitive gamers play on an 600dpi Intellimouse.

I use my Deathadder on 3500dpi 100% of the time and I feel that I could use higher. To each his own?

I use the Rat 7, it is ugly as can be.  But it is incredibly ocmfy for my hand, and has a 5600 dpi.  Very good mouse for the price.

Wow that's pretty high sens right there, I use 400 dpi on my MX518. xD For a 360 turn I use around 23 - 26cm depending on game.
