New cartridge or new turntable?

Hey guys I've been thinking about upgrading my old turntable for a while. It's a Technics SL-B100, and has some unknown (I'm guessing it has some kind of stock Shure cartridge). I figure I have two choices at this point, one is either get a new cartidge (I've been looking at the denon DL 103 for a while) or get a new turntable all together. The table sounds pretty good as it is right now and I think the cartidge would be the wiser upgrade since I can put it on another table when I'm done with this one.

My other question is would this be compatible with the stock tonearm on this table? I'm not sure how swappable everything is with these systems.

One more question, what do you guys keep your records in and where can I get one? right now i'm using a small milk crate and I think it's putting some unnecessary stress on the records.

Thanks ahead of time.
