Noob here~ I have the Sennheiser HD 485 and one of the ear-cushions got ripped off.  How does one go about putting it back on??

you might need to post some pictures. to what extent is the pad damaged? if it isnt damaged, just removed, it should pop right back on

just the cushion came off, nothing is torn or anything. is there a way to take apart the hardware?  it's the left ear-cushion.

Try pushing it back on until it pops, shouldn't take a lot of force.

i have a pair of hd555 and if i pull on the ear pad it pops off and i can just snap it back in. i dont know if thats how yours work or not though. is there a plastic ring or anything like that around the back of the pad? if so it should just snap back on. if not you may need to disassemble it. there should be some screws. just make sure you dont poke the driver. since im not really familiar with that model theres not a lot i can help with.

It looks like you slip it on like with most headphones, but the issue is that the edge it grips is recessed.

You might have to take the thing apart.  Have you searched for threads on HD485?

On my old HD497, the ear cushions have elastic edges that slip over a plastic disk. The plastic disk then pops into the headphone body by pushing it in. I don't know if those are similar, but if they are, getting the plastic disk off and then attaching the cushions to it makes things a lot easier.
