Some old Yamaha and 1 Bose audio equipment

I have my dad's old audio equipment sitting in the living room, which I plan to use once my HD 555's come in, and I want to know how good they are. For the Yamaha equipment, there's an amplifier mx-1000 , stereo control amplifier cx-1000, and a cdx-930. For the Bose is a 901 series vi active equalizer. Thank you all in advance for your input o2smile.gif

The Bose crossover is for their 901 speakers. If you don't have those, you can't do anything with it. Put it on eBay - someone will want it.

I don't know anything about the Yamaha gear. But give it a try. If it sounds good, you don't need to buy anything else.

Ahhhh, oh yeah I forgot to mention the speakers are still here. I'm very new with all this audio equipment, but I am liking the sound. Currently using a pair of Pioneer SE-72.

The Yamaha stuff is terrible. You should send it my way to take care of it.

Naw, the MX1000 is one of the best vintage solid state amps I can think of for around $500. You got lucky by inheriting it. Heck, I've been scouring for a lower end one! The MX1000/CX1000 combo just might outdo a lot of commercial headphone amps south of the big guns (Zana Deux, Phonitor, etc.) Just make sure you make a headphone adapter for the MX1000.

Hahah, I was going to say, darn! Can you point me in the right direction to a tutorial on how to make a headphone adapter?

Can you read a schematic? Here: http://sound.westhost.com/project100.htm

Thanks! I can't, but I'll see if my dad knows.

In regards to the Bose 901s...they can sound pretty sweet in the right room. They can sound like crap in the wrong position...google how to set them up.
