Zune HD and headphone amp

Thread Starter

Just purchased a Zune HD refurb for cheap before I realized that it doesn't support LOD  xD

The headphone out does sound pretty **** good as is, but am wondering if it's wise or necessary to add a headphone amp if your cans don't need the extra power? (Denon ADH-2000)

If it may sound better, how should both volumes be set?  That piece I'm really unsure of.

Any help appreciated of course.

Cheers.

Sounds like you're happy with the sound. Why buy anything else?

Because I always seek better just like everyone else here ;)  Wanted to hear some opinions from others that have a Zune HD.

Well, I've been using my ZuneHD with a Sennheiser PX100 ii and never needed any amplification.

I tried a fiio e5 with the zune but there wasn't any noticeable difference in sound quality other than an increase in volume. The e5 did provide drastic improvement with the onboard audio of a Toshiba laptop.though.

Using ATH-M50s, here. ZuneHD output sounds about the same as my uDAC2, appreciably better than laptop (m11xR2, Sony Vaio SC) output, however, not as clear (on the voices - no better way to state what the difference is to me frown.gif),but diggity dog! Using high bitrate eats through the battery fast frown.gif

Thanks for the replies guys.  I really like the Zune HD and certainly don't regret my purchase.
