So what makes you say the ef5 would pair better with the he500's? It's for my he500's in the first place, and from what I understood, the lyr would be better. I have access to the ef5 everyday at work, and it does sound very good; but what makes you say it's better than the lyr with the he500's.

I need to make a decision lol!

I haven't heard the HE-500/EF5, I was just hypothesizing re the power curves of the amps and headphones in question. I have heard the HE-5, HE-6, Lyr, and EF5 but not the HE-500. And since I postulated that I think someone else weighed in and said that the EF5 wasn't that great with the HE-500.

The EF6 sounds like a great amp, or check out the vintage receiver thread
