Clicking noise when turning on the dacmagic is this normal ?

sounds like the click you hear when you turn on an amp.

Is the click mechanical or actually in the audio?

It's a mechanical click from the unit. There's a slight delay for the power to kick in, I'm assuming that's the click that switches the power on for the circuit. Totally fine.

If it is mechanical, everything is fine. The click is an internal muting relay, which mutes the outputs for short period after you turn it on to prevent any "turn-on thump."
