Hi there. I have no technical knowledge of how audio equipment work, so I apologize if I just made myself look stupid.

I've been facing a slight problem lately. A couple of friends and I have started playing some gigs every now and then. Nothing too big, so the little guitar amps we have at the moment do a decent job so far, but we would prefer something better. We're strapped for cash, so larger amps or stacks were out of the picture.

Then I came up with the idea of using computer speakers. I was planning to upgrade to the z560 or ProMedia 4.1, both 400w systems. I somehow came to the conclusion that we could run the mikes and instruments to a mixer, then the speakers to the mixer's headphone jack and start the show. Yeah, it doesn't seem right to me either.

Given the zero knowledge that I have about this, we were wondering exactly how we could get this to work. I do have a laptop if that is needed, but it would be very much prefered that it not be used. Thanks in advance!
