Bryston headphone buffer

So I was randomly browsing about and wandering around the Bryston website and came across their schematics section. Lookee here at the B100SST, in the schematics zip file there's a headphone buffer.

I'm not well versed enough to make much of it, but can anyone here comment on it? Is there gain? How much current can it handle?

The headphone buffer is a Discrete Op Amp.

In the Bryston schematics it is used over and over

again. I think I saw in the specs that the headphone

out was rated for 50 ohms and above. Gain is

controlled by the feedback around the DOA.

I think the BDP-1 is quite interesting...

Too bad the schematic does not show

the sound card part of the device.

Yeah, I noticed after browsing through other schematics that it was all the same. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but do they publish the specs anywhere?

What is "DOA"? (I only know it as "dead on arrival")

Check the Spec Sheet/Brochure column

DOA = Discrete Op Amp

Hmm, it lists the specs of the speaker amplifier, but nothing for the headphones...

From the Manual:

HEADPHONE JACK:
There is a quarter inch headphone output jack available on the front panel of the Bryston B100 integrated amplifier. The headphone output is driven directly from the preamplifier section utilizing separate headphone buffers. Inserting the headphone jack mutes the loudspeakers automatically (indicated by the mute LED on the front panel turning red). The B100 PREAMP OUT is also muted.
You can adjust the volume setting of the headphones by using the volume control on the front of the B100 integrated
amplifier. You may also utilize the remote control unit to adjust headphone volume. The headphones cannot be muted with the remote control unit or the front panel Mute. Only headphones with impedances of greater than 50 ohms should be used.

I meant are there any specs of the DOA, but I guess there aren't. Mostly just idle curiosity.

New Bryston Headphone Amplifier

"[...] Headphones have been around for a long time, but they've been usually peripheral to the interests of audiophiles. This has been changing, and Bryston has a new product to meet this challenge. The BPHA-1 ($1295) is a headphone amplifier that is said to work well with the new headphones that are difficult to drive. Bryston's James Tanner is holding up a prototype of the BPHA-1."
