HM-801 Balanced Amplifier Module - Page 8

Thanks. I thought that the Lyr was a bit out there as a comparison.  (6 watts, ECC88s...)

Yes the lyr was a bit out there, but I thought the sr71b would be too honestly...and to re-clarify, we are discussing in terms of an lcd-2r2 pairing with the all amps discussed right?  If so, Ill be ordering the balanced card very soon, thank you.

I was referring to the LCD R2 with SR 71B

Good to hear then, have heard the sr71b with the lcd-2s and its fantastic, if its close to that in that portable of a set up then thats awesome

The HM-801 with balanced module is a great one box solution. I would have liked longer battery life though (get at most about 5 hours). My biggest gripe is with the unstable support for hires flac formats and the lack of gapless meaning that I have to spend a fair bit of time processing files before loading the unit

wonder if they could upgrade firmware to incorporate gapless one day?, that is a big one for me as most all of my music is live shows...

just read about rockbox working pretty well with the 801 now, it has gapless....

One of these? In that case "working pretty well" is not my impression from reading those threads. My impression is that people have - with some stress - gone back to the HiFiMan firmware because it's better than with the bugs still present in RockBox.

As I understand it, RockBox eats more power than the stock firmware and it won't play 24-bit files.
