I would love to hear your reccomendations, thanks for reading my thread! please reply!

The music I listen to is mostly Rap, Electronic, R&B, Pop, Rock and Heavy metal.

Games I will be playing in the future are:

Modern warfare 3, Battlefield Bad Company 3, Oblivion 4, Fallout: New Vegas and many more.

My price range is $100 - $250 range

My sound card I will be purchasing is Ht Omega Claro +

Willing to spend $50 - $100 on a amp

Hip hop/rap, electronics are genres that will benefit a bassy headphone, there is a great review of many headphones, judged based on their gaming capabilities, I'd recommend you to check it out.

Thanks for the reply, do you think the akg 701's are good enough to fit my match?

i doubt a $100 amp with be enough for the k701, apparently they very difficult to drive. Not mention that they don't have a lot of bass.

This is not entirely correct. The K 701 can have very good, and deep bass when driven properly. You're right about 100 bucks not being enough. I also don't think any internal PC sound card has enough of a headphone amp to deal with these without help (I know the Xonar Essence ST is inadequate compared to a dedicated amp).

If you aren't looking for surround sound, go Denon AH-D2000. I have a set and game regularly. They sound beautiful. More than not I've found myself sitting in a game just listening to the sound design.

As for an amp, I don't use one, currently. However, from what I hear, the Denon's are extremely easy to drive. I'm shopping around for a DAC/AMP right now and I'm actually looking at stuff that's over-powered for my needs because I will probably upgrade at some point.

They'll run you $220.

Oh, and bass isn't a problem. I made the mistake once in BC2 of having the volume up rather loud (I didn't realize because it was a gradual thing) but I was hiding in a building and a tank rolled by. It sounded fantastic. And then it exploded and my headphone vibrated on my head. Like I said, they were far louder than they should have been. From what I hear, a good AMP will make them sound even better.
