Chicago the best food city in USA?

I keep hearing reports how amazing the food in Chicago is. My only food experience was a brief stop while driving through and I had a simple breakfast of toast, potato and eggs but I have to admit, it was stunning. It was possibly the best simple breakfast I had. There are so many reports out there of the food in Chicago and it wouldn't surprise me if Chicago is the best food city in America or at least within the top 3. Could Chicago be a world class food city?

NYC is the food capital of the USA and one of the top food cities in the world. That said, I think Chicago comes in second. I was there last year and wish I was there longer because even though we eat a great places every day, we didn't even scratch the surface. Rick Bayless' places are amazing and capped off my short stay.

NYC may be the king but Chicago has nothing to be ashamed of.

Neither does Philly for that matter. :)

The best places  I have dined in are in NY but never been to Chicago. The best Italian resturants in NYC are on Arthur Ave in the Bronx. Talk about Italian Food if ever in the City try Domincks on Arthur Ave. No menu or credit cards and food is the best in the city.
