Lived fine without tone controls until bought pair Denon 5000. Bass is wild and destructive, but Rotel pre-amp tone controls by passed when plug desktop HP amp into tape out per usual HP amp/Amp set up. Also no tone control using HP jack on Rotel, but cheaper Onkyo tone controls remained in play when used HP amp. Do not want complete elaborate equalizer just to tame the crazy Denons. Must I find and buy a middle to high end amp which keeps tone controls in play like the Onkyo? Any ideas, suggestions, or amp names need to look at if there is not a simpler solution.
