Looking for 5.1 HT+receiver setup recommendations

Alrighty, looks like i'm finally going to take the HT dip and was looking for something affordable, i'd prefer satellites+center channel+sub and a new receiver to support this new gear. I'm open for a receiver that handles 6.1 also. My spending range is up to $1000, but i can spend a bit more if necessary to acquire the best bang for the buck. Any thoughts/links are appreciated!

I currently own a Yamaha RXV493 receiver and pos Fisher speakers which i'm probbaly going to unload on a friend.

EDIT: The room i plan on using is 10'x15' approx and i listen to most genre's of music, minus Country.

Anyone here own these? I've read some good things about AR in the past, now i gotta find a vendor in the city that sells them so i can audition them.
