HiFiMan HE-300 Coming Soon! - Page 2

If this thing is somewhat affordable and sounds like 70 percent of the HE-500 to me, I'm going to give up Grados forever

Any news of the expected price yet?

Here's the thread I've been guesstimating from:

HE-3 full size dynamic headphone cans (prototype)

HE-3 are 32 Ohm low impedance full size headphones using 40mm (1.75inch) drivers. These are high effiency open back headphones which can get good sound quality on portable source.

Available time: June or July, 2010

Final Price will be between $200 and $300

As you can see, it's been delayed for over a year

We made a dynamic headphone sample called HE-3 before Canjam, but we did not show it off. The reason is that our dynamic team are not happy with the sound. The ambitious dynamic team leader, a stubborn Cantonese and the designer of RE0, want to make something good so that they can beat our ortho team. Then I was told to wait for another two month.

So, can it be assumed these will be analytical?

I hope this HE model will have some upper midrange on it. I'm looking forward to these, got a feeling they will sound sweet..

A very interesting set of headphones at their price point: HE-300 Review

I'm waiting for the HE-700LE.

which is rumoured to be released in spring of 2012.

Creator of the RE0, wanting to beat the ortho team... yeah, must be pretty analytical.

Bahaha.

If it sounds like the RE0s, I might want to try them :D

It might be a nice twin of the DT880s (which sounds like a full size version of the RE0, IMO).

Thanks for the review!

...hmm...I was going to get a Sony Z1000 this September, but...these might get my money if more impressions come out. Grado-like sound without the drawbacks? Me gusta.

EDIT: Subconsciously added "stage" to sound. Disregard that.

grado like soundstage? !! YUK! no wants

Sounds like an exciting headphone.

TheWuss, there's a HE-700LE on the way?

It does not say grado like sound stage anywhere in the review. The signature is somewhat gradoish, intimate with ample amounts of bass and good treble presence. The sound stage is comparable to that of the HE-500s, but lacks some depth compared to the HE-6s.
