in the advanced settings of my spdif output i can select upto 24/192.

on playback of youtube vids, the m2tech young dac displays 192.

does this mean that windows is upsampling?

windows 7 can upsample if you put it that way and if the dac allows it. i wouldn't suggest upsampling tho personally since i prefer everything true to it's source. i would put everything at default unless you personally feel one setting is better than another.

thanks for that.

i had previously been led to believe that windows did not upsample, and thought the dac was faulty.

cheers.

I've set Windows 7  for 24/96 since my interface from laptop to pre/pro will pass it through and my pre/pro will accept  24/96 input. This allows me to listen to everything on my iTunes library no matter what the rate up to 24/96, without any need to adjust anything while listening  to a playlist containing music stored at different rates.  I have not experienced a downside yet to setting Windows 7 for 24/96 upsampling. It all sounds awesome.
