E7 DAC problem

I have been using an E7 plugged into my laptop via USB and it has recently decided to stop playing through the right speaker. I have tried it with winamp, vlc and windows media. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling but still it only plays through the left speaker/headphone.

When I use the E7 with my sansa clip+ it works fine through both channels.

Any ideas? Is it the E7 causing this or something with my laptop?

Thanks

Ben

If it is still under warranty, try and make use if it.  Are you certain that it is not simply a jack problem where the plug you insert isn't making good contact?  If that's the issue, you take a look inside the out jack and bend the middle tab inward a pinch with a safety pin.  The deepest tab is left and the one closest to the entrance is ground.

Something similar happened to me with my e7, and the solution was very simple... my computer midi volumes were all messed up, and I loosed a channel when panning the signal, check your channels output configuration, the problem might be something like that since it only happens when plugged to your laptop...

Hi Guys,

Its definately not the headphone out socket as it plays through both channels fine through both headphone sockets when using it with my mp3 player, well apart from one of the sockets is a bit wobbly and causes static/interference if wobbled.

I've played around with all the possible sound settings I can find and still no joy. It was doing this occasionally before but would always eventually go back to playing through both after restarting the computer. It seems this time though it just doesnt want to play ball anymore.

Looks like I may have to send it back again :( The first one I had turned its screen off every time I adjusted the EQ higher than 1. I sent that back and this is the replacement, now I have one channel and one of the headphone outs is a bit wobbly.

Anyone have a a suggestion for an alternative to the E7? as I dont seem to be having any luck with them.

Nuforce Icon Mobile? Vivid Tech V1?  Not sure what else there is at the E7's price point with both amp and DAC sections.
