Soundcard to DacMagic??

Thread Starter

Hey there !

I was just wondering, i've gotten myself a Cambridge DacMagic for my speaker system, and currently just hooked it up via USB from my computer..

And now, i have absolutely no knowledge regarding the hole S/PDIF, Toslink, coaxial thing or whatever it is..
But i just thought, my soundcard, a Creative SB XFI Titanium professionel, says in the specsheet it has optical S/PDIF out, which looks like this http://www.techspot.com/articles-info/115/10.jpg

and i was just wondering if it's possible to connect that directly to my DacMagic, which if anyone doesn't know have the following connections http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/assets/documents/DAC_Magic_rear.jpg

As i said, i've never before worked with all these S/PDIF and toslink optical stuff before, so i really have no idea what looks like what and goes into what :p Doing a bit of googling did nothing but confuse..
So.. Can anyone tell me if that's possible, and what cable would be needed? And if it would even make any sense?

Thanks in advance! :D

You can do SPDIF (a protocol) in 2 ways, electrical (coax cable) and optical (Toslink).

All you need is a Toslink cable as this is what both have in common.
