Sorry for yet another thread, but I've been reading old threads for hours and I'm still uncertain about this particular question.
This is my first time attempting a DIY project. I need to re-cable my (currently broken) Audio-Technica ES7's, with some Mogami 2534's.
Should I strip off the rubber jacket, braid the wires, then sleeve them in nylon multifilament? I have seen some people just slip the nylon multifilament over the rubber jacket - is there a point to this? Shouldn't the rubber jacket be sufficient protection?
If I don't use any nylon sleeving, and just leave the part from the plug to the Y-split in the stock rubber jacket, would it be too stiff? What if I used 2893's instead? I want flexibility.
If I were to strip off the rubber jacket, would 3/16" nylon multifilament be a good size for before the Y-split with the 2534's??
What's the best way to get the sleeving around the wires?
Thanks
