I bought the Westone 3 to replace them and it's nice having a new sound signature for my brain to absorb. I will miss the FXT90s for everyday use, but they will still come with me on vacations and camping trips since the Westone 3's are too expensive to put in danger like that. I am a bit dissapointed that the 90's didn't last longer than 9 months though, since I treated them with much care.

Can you not get them recabled with bgt-audio?

Cheers

Never occured to me, but I am going to look into it now, thanks!

*EDIT* Wow, I am so angry at myself now for shelling out $215 for new IEM's instead of just getting the 90's fixed. I was under the impression if the cable was not removeable then they were not able to get recabled. Damnit.

Either way I am really happy with the Westone 3.

Well look at it this way, you have the westones to listen to whilst the jvc's are away!  Then when the jvcs are back you can send the 3's off for the same service, now you have a clear upgrade path :P ! (no I don't work for btg, and no I don't get commission sadly!).

Cheers

Yeah so did I.

The red ones are so rare, I just had to grab some. The second hand ones I bought set me back £37, that's an epic price considering what they are listed for new.

Btw how does trance sound with these?

Trance sounds really good, but that is based on my experience. I found them to be somewhat neutral with the right amount of bass. Vocals are crystal clear and imo the best iems for EDM at that price. These are heavily dependant on what tips you use though, they can make or break the purchase. I found the Monster foam tips worked best and gave me the right seal.

That's great to hear mate, thanks for the feedback. I'm really looking forward to receiving them.

My preferred tips are double flanges, hopefully the MEElec or Brainwavz ones should work well. Also got some Sony hybrids to try with them too.

I've got really high hopes for them, let's see if they beat my current favourite for Trance music the Zero Audio Carbo Tenore.

No problem :)

MEElec work well too from what I recall. It's all about what gives you the best seal, thats more important. Use gel tip to emphasize the bass and foam to emphasize the treble.

Yeah I usually get the best seal with double flanges. I use them in almost all my IEMs.

Although that can make the bass a bit wobbly and less poised somewhat.

I just use the original medium tips that come with my gold edition FXT90 and found the seal is already very good.  Maybe just my ears lol.

They took around 50 hours for them to open up on me. Be sure to exercise those drivers well. I have, what I lke to consider, the "ultimate" burn in playlist which hits every frequency after a carefull evaluation. Let me know if you want the download link to the playlist.

Well so far I can hear the good depth in the sound stage, pretty good positioning, out of the head sound. My FX40 is really clear, but these 90, they are even clearer, also the bass seems to have better control

EDIT: I dont believe in driver burn-in unfortunatety, If something happens, its just the brain getting used to the sound, and that's what I am doing, burning in my brain

No playlist necessary lol

Just stick on a mix of dubstep, drum n bass, trance, freeform hardcore and psy at around 75% volume.
