Also could someone  who heard both compare the HD 580 to the Sexttet LPs? Thanks.

@Diverge Unify - are you talking in general or with specific headphones in mind? which are they? thanks.

For example I found an old pair of Grado SR225s to immediately outclass my Shure SE530s.  There wasn't a question in my mind.    I'm talking in general.  If you spend x amount on headphones, and then 2-2.5x on IEMs, the headphones will still sound superior from my somewhat limited experience

I paid $115 for Audio Technica ES7 and $270 for my 530s, and I didn't find that jump nearly as great as the jump from 530> 225( and even greater, 325is)

I don't think I would ever spend close to $300 on IEMs again unless I heard them beforehand and they were absolutely fire

OK, so I won't get the 530s. Thanks.

If you can get them for a good price, like $250 then I'd say go for them, but satisfy the full-sized department first you know what I mean?

Ya. I decided to get the HD 580 and a cheap IEM for portable use.

Thanks!
