Problem with ASUS Xonar Essence ST and ASIO.

Hello. I'm new to this website and to the audiophile world.

I recently bought a new Xonar Essence ST and have been having problems with ASIO. When I play music through programs such as foobar2000 and Winamp with ASIO plugins and ASUS Xonar ASIO I get loud crackle/popping noises. This happens when I start, stop, or change a song. I also hear the popping noise when I switch programs (like from foobar to Google Chrome).

I'm running Vista 32bit. All drivers are updated.

I tried ASUS forums but it's fairly empty and the inquiry form does not have USA as a country. blink.gif

PS: I think I messed up my ATH-AD700 because I didn't know ASIO + foobar2000 only uses foobar volume. That really hurt my ears (and possibly my wallet).frown.gif

Yes. I'm using 6.12.8.1794 (Vista 32bit). I'm using WASAPI for now. If I use ASIO I have to take off my headphones when I stop/start/change songs because those popping noises really bother my ears.

I'm not sure what it could be apart from the fact that I've read ti happens almost exclusively to Creative X-Fi based cards only. =\
