Trouble with M-Audio CX8 to receiver

Hey guys, I bought these CX8's on sale and got two of these off monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=2680&seq=1&format=2, I have my computer hooked up to my old Panasonic receiver through spdif. Hooked up the CX8's to my receivers Front L/R, but I get no audio. I do however get audio for about 2 seconds when I shut off the receiver. They also do work when I have just a RCA - 3.5mm hooked up directly from the speakers to my Galaxy S. Did I do something wrong? Bought the wrong cable perhaps? Little advice for a new guy?

It appears that the front is part of a 6 channel input , not an output. Notice the broken line between the section labeled front & the section with the DVD/DVD 6 channel inputs & there is no front in the DVD/DVD 6 channel bordered section itself, The broken lines indicate to me that the front RCA jacks actually belong to the DVD/DVD 6 channel input it is not an output as you are thinking. This receiver is not compatable with the powered speakers that you are trying to use with it.
