3.5 mm male-to-male vs LOD

I was wondering what's the difference between a 3.5 male-to-male as opposed to an iPod line out dock. I'm thinking of using it on my iPhone and on my computer so if there's no significant performance increase with the LOD then I'm probably just going to settle for the 3.5 mm male-to-male.

If it helps, I'm probably going to be using it with either a PA2V2 or an iBasso T3 and a Fischer Audio FA-002w.

Also, I was wondering if amplifiers can be damaged. I'm thinking of picking up this T3 for 80, maybe 70 bucks US but because I don't have prior experience with amplifiers it is easy for me to get scammed (if SQ is bad, etc.).

Thanks!

iphone and inner amp + male to male cable + amp =double amped.

iphone + LOD (which bypasses iphone amp) + amp = clear single amped.

(edit) #1 Bad, #2 Good.

:)

*Also try out the Equalizer app and the EQu app before you go for the amp.

Isn't it #1 bad, #2 good?

I'll try out the Equalizer and EQu apps before I consider amp-ing. Thanks!
