Cable turtle safe for headphones?

Got some new headphones I love, but have caught myself a couple times rolling over the cable with my chair. I've got a cable turtle, but I wonder if it's OK to wrap the cord up this way? Is there a best practice for gathering or managing excess cable?

Cable turtle?  Only if the wire is flexible enough, or you can simply coil the cable.  That's what I do, then you can use painter's tape, rubber bands, velcro bands, or whatever you want to keep it together.
