By portable and using fullsized I'm guessing that you want a fullsized can that can be portable?

If you're that hung up on it, then you should just get a fullsized and a pair of IEM's because a Senn HD25-1 ii is not going to pit in your pocket and will need a seperate bag (MANBAG) to carry them around in.

So either suck it up and wear them around you neck like jewelry or get some IEM's

Now best "jewelry" headphones are like:

Grado

M50's

HD25-1 ii

Fold flat Dj

Because the cups swivel or the body and long and still and can be worn around the neck well

I use my grado as a portable but might mix it up with my other cans. I even wear my monster T50RP outside like a BALLER

M50 for sure. Can go unamped perfectly and build quality and sound to boot!

The Ultrasone Pro 900 offers very detailed sound across all frequencies(highs, mids, lows) and the soundstage is deep wide due to S Logic effect(surround sound). Dt1350 are very good sounding on ear headphones with Tesla technology and it offers deep bass, detailed mids and clear extended highs with wide soundstage.

Thank to all for your comments ! Now, i've got the new Sennheiser HD25-1 II, i love this headphone, sound and looks nice. I've hear of good echo about these headphones like the M50's, Audio Technica ES10, Beyer DT770Pro 80Ohms, Ultrasone Pro900... I know it's difficult to say, who is the best, because I think that depend also of each person. I listen a lot of music, classical, jazz, trance, pop/rock, folk, dubstep,... And i searched a headpone not very large, good sound, price, look with a very good isolation. I don't regret my Sennheiser, but maybe I could do buy a better headphone than the HD25-1 II... Or this headphone is good for what I do. iPhone, PC, listen all the time of music, public transport. I wanted to change my CX300.

Get a bass heavy headphone

It's all about different headphones!

M50's would be a good change and you still won't need an amp

But you could also go balanced, MDR-V6, Shure, AKG

Heya,

Ultrasone Pro 900's.

They're portable. Swivel cups. Detachable cable. Solid quality and good for virtually anything to listen to. They just happen to also be a monster basshead headphone so they can deliver that low end like no other. Isolation is decent, they're closed, so ok to use on the go and out in public. I use my 900 Pro's as my portable headset. I wear them `backwards' so that when I drop them down around my neck when not listening, the back of the cups face out to everyone so you see just sexy "Ultrasone" aluminum on black hard rubber matte finish. Very slick.

Very best,

Doesn't that mess up the S-Logic since that is highly dependent on them being positioned correctly?

I think the best portable headphone I've ever heard is the Audio Technica ESW10JPN. It lacks a lot in isolation but it's drop dead gorgeous sonically and physically.

Am I alone in thinking the Pro 900 is not really portable? And for the price, the Ultrasone ED8 is the terrible value for portable use. When used through an MP3 player, the ED8 doesn't sound better than the ESW10JPN (which I also think is over priced at $600) and at $1600, forget about it. I haven't tried the ED8 in a home rig, but $1600 is pretty freakin expensive unless you plan to use it as a portable AND a home headphone.

Don't some people here wear their HD800 outside?

Personally, I wouldn't go larger than a supra-aural of HD25, ES10 or DT1350 size.

But of course!

I often wear my HD25 with the headband going around the back of my neck/head.  Then I have the ends of the headband sticking out towards the front looking like a pair of antennae or something, I'm certain it looks a little odd to people.

ew.. I guess to a Star Trek convention? I can imagine using open headphones outside might create a cool ambience.

As HD25's owner i have to give a thumbs up to it. They are good sounding, and when using a portable amp or cowon player they are great.

Heya,

Not really. When they're backwards, the driver just faces more forward. The angle is slight, it's not a 45* angle. S-Logic really only gets to show off why/how it works with recordings that are recorded to have a wider presentation, like binaural recordings, movies that have positioning, games, etc. For basic for-stereo recorded music, it really doesn't have much of an impact that I can detect.

Very best,

You are not alone. Just because something can be driven from an iPod doesn't make it 'portable'.  The Pro 900s have HUGE (compared to portables) cups that leak a lot. Not only that, they will move around a lot on your head, and their sound signature changes dramatically when they are not in the sweet spot. I would say they are one of the least portable full-size headphones imo. I'm sure if you used them with J$s that would help in every aspect of portablilty other than sheer size. My .02
