Do I need the e7 to pair with the e9?

Hello, I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD595's and although I was impressed I wanted a little more volume and power. I use them exclusively on my PC that has a Realtek ALC892 soundcard. I started reading about amps and DACS, and due to a pricing error got the FiiO e9 desktop amp for $26 bucks. So my question is should I buy the e7 to pair with the e9 or is the e9 and my sound card sufficient? Thanks. btw if the e9 is good enough on its own what cord would I need to plug the amp into my computer?

Heya,

The realtek is likely going to be about as good as the E7, the only real difference will be if you notice any noise coming over from the realtek or not since it's in the computer and can pick up a lot of interference from other components.

You can feed the E9 via 3.5mm jack from the soundcard's lineout or speaker out to the E9's 3.5mm input jack.

I would start without the E7. Getting the E9 for $26 is really, really good. That's basically free. And that amp is very good at what it does.

Very best,

Checked Amazon one day and the amp was under suggested items. I saw that it was listed for only $26 and immediately bought it. About 5 minutes later the price increased to $126, they forgot to add the one.
