EQ ranges of mp3 players

Does anybody know if there's a mp3 player that has an EQ of either 5 or 6KHz in the presence range and an another EQ range of 10KHz and above, know this might be a stupid question.

I'm asking because I used to have a Zen(broke now), which though had a terrible EQ had this EQ range which I guess is universal with all PMP's with EQ. The J3 I know stops shy of 8KHz which I need if I want brilliance in my instruments, I need above 10KHz. I have Portapro's(Kramer modded) and I always find myself either lowering or heightening in foobars' EQ the 5KHz and the 10KHz and 14KHz ranges on my computer. I planning was getting the Fuze+, but I don't know if it has these ranges. I want to be sure before I buy.

Or should I just get a Audio Technica ATH-ES7 and reduce the vocal EQ (4KHz-7KHz) on the player, as I'm very perceptible to harshness in the vocals, but love treble (10KHz-20KHz), the more the better:) as most of my music is composed of  female singers of all genres, especially metal and pop. Any help will be appreciatedredface.gif

A player with Rockbox open source firmware has flexible EQ. A Sansa Clip, Clip+, or Fuze with Rockbox has 5 bands of EQ (3 parametric, 2 shelving). You can control the center frequency, the gain, and Q (to make the band narrower or wider).

There are EQ apps for iPads and recent models of iPod Touch and iPhone. Two popular ones are EQu and Equalizer.

Reading threads here it seems, the Fuze has a not so good EQ that distorts the music worse than an iPod's EQ, which is terrible on the 5G.

Hardware based EQ seems better than software based EQ like EQu, as I've deduced from reading threads here on iPod Touch vs J3. So it seems my choices have come down to Samsung R1 and Cowon i9, coz I have like only £120. Sony I've read has an over processed EQ...so which to get?

I listen to the music and not the headphones, so I guess I'm a music enthusiastbiggrin.gif

The more I look at this thread, the more I wonder why I posted it. Firstly I already know that Fuze is best listened to in flat EQ and one of the best uncolored sounding mp3 players. The Cowon and the Samsung are both solid players, with excellent EQ and should not be looked over other players coz each can hold their own. Plus I've been eyeing the ES7 for a while and I should buy it.

Sorry for the post, I'm a bit sleepy (I'm studying for exams in a few days, haven't had much sleepfrown.gif). So after some researching, I think I decided by myself that I'll either get the Fuze+ or a Samsung R0 and the ES7 much later coz it's £220, a bit much for headphones! but I guess that's what you have to do, to get great SQ, whether you're a music enthusiast or an audiophile...or both.

Anyway I'm off to sleep, I've read too **** much. But keep the opinions coming, if you don't mind, and keep L3000.gif.
