Hey guys!

My dad is giving me some yamaha equipment and i dont really know too much about them besides the fact that they are older models. To be exact, the set constitutes of a yamaha EQ-70 equalizer, yamaha rx-v540 reciever, and cdc-98 cd player. Any information about these will be helpful!

I don't have any information, but use what you've got.

The receiver should be able to drive a variety of speakers, so think about picking up a pair. There are some excellent inexpensive ones (new and used) and you can also build your own.

Just last week I added a Yahama "natural sound" CD-S2000 CD/SACD player to my headphone system. It replaced a transport, DAC and DVD/SACD player. This it by-far the best player I've ever owned. Yahama is not big on listing specs but from research I believe this beast has 4 Yahama DACs in front of the balanced outputs. The SACD performance is stunning. I'm not familiar with your newly acquired equipment but I have to go with Uncle Erik, Use it. Yahama, though not as well known as other brands, makes some very nice gear.
