Heard from customer service of GD that the first batch of NFB5 (20 sets) has already been sold out. Is anyone here the one of twenty?
Does the acss (and opamp bypass) work with rca output too? I don't care much about headphones, but I want a good but cheap dac/preamp for my speakers
I believe it can, if it can't i have no reason to buy one. I'll email them since I plan on using it with a LittleDot MK IV SE.
Please let me know too
From this list, it appears that you can have bypassed output. See "Display 3" below:
DAC/HP switch:
Select the output modes of the NFB-5.
Display 1 : Headphone output . Bypass the built in OPA, signal transmit by ACSS only.
Display 2 : Headphone output . The built in OPA active , signal transmit through the OPA convert to ACSS .
Display 3 : DAC output . Bypass the built in OPA, signal transmit by ACSS only. Users can choice the DAC output either variable and fixed.
Display 4 : DAC output . The built in OPA active , signal transmit through the OPA convert to ACSS .Users can choice the DAC output either variable and fixed.
so whats the display # 3 and 4? it says the opamp will be active or bypassed. I dont get it..
#3: DAC output, bypassing the opamp
#4: DAC output, using the opamp
Not sure how to reword it, it is straight forward already. The opamp is an extra, unnecessary component, mainly to color the sound to your taste. You may find yourself liking output modes 1 & 3, since they bypass the opamp. 2 & 4 use the opamp.

English clearly isn't their first language.
Impressions on the NFB-5? Are they selling a bit because I wrote to them and I haven't gotten an answer yet...=/
