Today is the most depressing day of my summer yet... my MS1i's right driver (almost) died. Running it out of a udac plugged into my laptop, the right driver is absolutely silent; at almost max volume, there might be a crackle or two. I then switched sources and played it off my blackberry, and could not get any sound out of the right driver at all. Finally, I plugged them into a Pioneer home theatre receiver, and at high volumes, the right driver did work. However, it still crackled and had slight interruptions every few seconds.
I treat my headphones with care, and didn't do anything out of the ordinary before the driver stopped working. Has anyone had a similar experience, and can provide a guess as to what the problem is?
My own best guess would be a loose wire somewhere, but I don't feel too comfortable opening up the cans myself. Maybe there is some experienced DYI'er in the greater Toronto area that could lend me a hand?
I also called a local audio store, and they said it would cost $25CAD to have a technician inspect them and give an estimate. The parts and cost of repair would then be on top of that.
Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
