Both plugs will work, and won't affect how things work.
I forgot you have a ZO. I'm quite curious to know your feedback on that combo, it has to sound mighty

I have no idea how it works, I just go by my ear. :p
If I set my kX Audio driver settings for my Audigy 2 ZS to use 5.1 speaker setup in surrounder+ plugin it sounds better than with stereo
Same goes for Realtek speaker configuration, 5.1 sounds noticably better with Dolby Headphone/channel mixer in foobar2000 (and also the channel test works so that I actually hear sound coming from the rear channels, it sounds like coming more from the "back" of the headphone driver)
I just want to confirm Titanium HD can work in same/similar manner.
orz I didn't even know realtek driver can be set like that and actually sound different from stereo mode.. but this seems to me like further processing the output from foobar (further adding "surround effect" on the 2 channels output of dolby headphone dsp) ==a
Do you even know what you're talking about? Can you not read his specs? Geez...
i know it doesnt support 5.1
only if you mean virtual surround
this is not true surround
Of course you know...
Because it's a good thing we were never talking about Dolby Headphone in the first place, or you would really feel awkward for talking.
I know exactly what he's trying to do, actually...he wants to set the Windows sound settings to 5.1 or 7.1 speakers, but the X-Fi drivers to headphones. (Even though that's actually the opposite of what the above images suggest, but those aren't X-Fi control panels, are they?) The drivers downmix the channels automatically, and in newer games where sounds are premixed for 5.1/7.1 speaker configurations (instead of providing 3D sound coordinates and letting the sound card driver handle that, as it should be), CMSS-3D Headphone has a bit more positional data to use its HRTFs with and can provide cues from the extra speaker positions. (There's still a distinctive gap in the imaging from directly behind compared to games that use OpenAL or DirectSound3D wrapped with ALchemy, though.)
Unfortunately, I can't confirm or deny that the X-Fi Titanium HD will present those options in Windows Vista/7's speaker configuration panel. I thought about getting one of those cards, but later decided to play it safe and go for the Auzentech X-Fi Forte (which still hasn't arrived yet; here's hoping it shows up on Monday or Tuesday), which does have analog 7.1 out through a D-Sub breakout dongle (which you won't even need to connect if you don't plan on using a microphone, or want to hook that up through the front panel mic jack).
If anyone has an X-Fi Titanium HD, right-click on the Windows volume icon (or go to Control Panel -> Sound if it's set to classic/icon view), highlight Speakers under the Playback tab, and click the Configure button. If there are 5.1 or 7.1 surround options there, then it'll do what he wants.

Those images showed kX drivers' configuration windows, namely the Surrounder plugin, which is not setting the number of outputs to 5.1, but emulating it.
And just like all previous Creative soundcards, Windows own audio control panel is never to be used, only Creative control panels. It's on their documentation.
The options you speak of are on the cards control panels (both).
Yea I also thought the same. I can imagine these 2 playing very well together as Titanium HD doesn't have any built-in amp ala-Xonar style so I get both a fine DAC from the Titanium as well as ZO doing its own "magic" to the signal. :p
Since I'm such a huge fan of the kX drivers I'm not 100% sure I will be pleased regarding the configurability of this new card, stock vs stock settings I should notice a huge difference yea but I'm not the kind of guy using the stock settings so that's what I'm interested in finding out now if the Titanium HD can still keep me more pleased after comparing optimally configured kX Audio drivers settings vs optimally configured Titanium HD for my personal taste. At least the ZO makes so that I don't need the feature of the kX audio's excellent EQ that can easily handle +12 boost to the whole range without distortion and it sounds better if just using minimal EQing instead as the ZO adds something like 7 ~ 10dB boost to the whole range for that more "forward" sound signature I previously had to use the EQ for.
Yea well I'm the kind of guy who doesn't assume anything, I let my ears decide so ofc I had to try how it would sound like if using 5.1 speakerconfig with a headphone. :P
to be safe buy titanium pro
and not titanium hd

Well, you know that no current card will ever give you the same level of direct control over the hardware as what you currently have. But I do believe that you can nitpick both stock and modded drivers enough to find your sound while enjoying the higher quality components.
Safe for what? For getting lower quality sound? Yes, he will safely have lower quality sound he he buys the Titanium Fatal1ty Pro (not titanium pro).
Titanium Fatal1ty Pro have good quality sound
it might be lower than hd
but its very good and good enogh
Good enough? How would you know if you never listened to it? And good enough for what? Lol. Stop ashaming yourself.

...it has swapable-opamp, though you can use rca line-out with the cost of unable to use those dsp for headphones, which is the same case as xonar essence st/stx
btw in my case i want dolby headphone on soundcard but also want to use an external amp, xonar d2x is what i've reached
i have creative vibra 128
its very nice sound quality
newer card and better parts
will be much better
